MPHS 3rd Annual College Fair | Schools
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Written by: MPSD
Moss Point High School hosted its 3rd Annual College and Career fair on January 26, 2012, at the MPHS gymnasium. Around 30 vendors were present and ready to share information about their company or college.
Among some of the vendors present were the University of South Mississippi, Chevron, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Mississippi College, just to name a few.
Upon entering the fair, students were given a yellow card and told to get 30 signatures, one from each vendor. The students that got all of their signatures were given bonus points by their first block teachers. Before allowing the students to visit the booths, MPHS principal, Mr. Mumford, gave the students a few words of advice. "Take advantage of having all of these colleges in one place at one time" he advised.
As students visited the college/university booths, they received valuable information concerning the admissions and scholarship processes. Students were encouraged to bring their transcripts to the event. Some of those that did were accepted into colleges/universities on the spot.
Overall, the event was a success and provided students with a valuable opportunity to ask questions and receive information about planning their future.
The event was coordinated by the MPHS guidance and counseling department.
