Moss Point suspect allegedly leaped from second floor during flee attempt

Dimitrick Antawn "Panky" Mims, 36, of Moss Point was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count possession of crack cocaine, according to Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Mims reportedly tried to escape authorities when they arrived at his Church Street apartment to execute a search warrant, according to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd.

Byrd said, Mims ran out the back door. He then leaped from the second floor balcony injuring himself. A sheriff's K-9 confronted Mims.

Jackson County Narcotics Division agents reportedly seized crack cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash from his apartment.

The suspect was transported by Acadian to Singing River Hospital for treatment. He was released and taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center pending a bail hearing. Byrd said Mims was on probation and wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation.

If convicted of the newest charge, Mims faces up to eight years and a $50,000 fine.

Anyone with information on illegal drug activity should call the Jackson County Narcotics Division at 228-769-3302. All calls and information will remain anonymous.
